DSL QUESTIONS

What is DSL?
FDSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a method of allowing a very fast Internet connection over normal copper telephone lines.
Is DSL the same as dial-up?
No. Although both use the telephone lines, dial-up Internet connections are limited to a speed of 56Kbps (thousands of bits per second, where a bit is a single on-off electrical pulse). DSL uses digital rather than analog transmission and can offer much faster transmissions. Our Fast Internet DSL offers 256Kbps downloading, which is five times faster than dialup. Faster Internet DSL runs at 1.5 Mbps (millions of bits per second) so is about thirty times faster than dialup. Our Fastest Internet DSL runs at a blazing 7 Mbps, or well over a hundred times as fast as dialup.
Can I use the phone while on the Internet with DSL?
Yes! In fact, the DSL Internet connection is always on and designed to work in conjunction with normal telephone services. The only change you will see is that small line filters, which are provided for free, will need to be installed. Installation is easy – simply unplug the phone into the wall jack, plug the phone into the filter, and then plug the filter into the wall.
